    Falcons Go 0-1-1 Last Weekend
Junior Matt Payne scored his first goal of the season but it wasn’t enough as the Falcons dropped a 2-1 decision to UMKC last Friday in Kansas City. Junior Luke Villamaria sent a cross in from the right side that found Payne on the back post for a header goal. It was Villamaria’s first point of his career.
On Sunday, the Falcons struck first when freshman Ryan Ward scored his third goal of the season in the 70th minute to take a 1-0 lead at Houston Baptist. Freshman Cameron Duley notched the first point of his career with an assist on the play. The Huskies tied the game with 12 minutes left and neither team scored in overtime for a 1-1 draw.

    Ward’s On A Roll
Freshman Ryan Ward scored his third goal of the season Sunday at Houston Baptist, tying him for the team lead with junior Zachary Modly. Ward, who also scored two goals against UMKC on Oct. 11, has the most goals in one season by an Air Force freshman since 2013 grad Kevin Durr finished with three in 2009.

WAC Tourney Coming to the Academy
The Falcons will host the 2013 WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament beginning Thursday, Nov. 14. Three games will be played on the 14th, with the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 15 and the championship game at noon on Sunday, Nov. 17. For more information visit www.wacsports.com.

Falcons Picked Second in WAC Preseason Rankings
The Falcons were picked to finish second in the WAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Bakersfield was predicted to win the conference by the eight league coaches. Air Force senior Caleb Downey was selected as the preseason Defensive Player of the Year and fellow senior Brian Klazura joined Downey on the preseason all-WAC team.

    Back to the WAC
After spending the last 14 years playing in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, the Falcons will begin play, once again, in the Western Athletic Conference in 2013. Air Force was a member of the WAC from 1996-98 before breaking off with seven other schools to form the Mountain West Conference. The MWC did not offer men’s soccer, however, so the Falcons moved to the MPSF.
