Falcons Open MPSF Play This Week
The Air Force Falcons travel to California for thier first two Mountain Pacific Sports Federation games of the 2009 season. Air Force, 5-3-1 this season, will face Sacramento State (4-5-1) on Friday, Oct. 16 at 4 p.m., and San Jose State (5-6-1) on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m.

Falcons Rout UMKC on Monday
The Falcons put on an offensive barrage Monday as they defeated UMKC, 6-3, at Cadet Soccer Stadium in the final non-conference game of the ‘09 campaign. Senior Josh Rhynard scored two goals and added one assist and senior Jared Gomez and junior Kyle Moses each had a goal and an assist.
The six goals scored were the most in one game by an Air Force team since a 7-0 shellacking of Marquette on Aug. 31, 2003. Including AFA’s 4-0 victory over Howard on Oct. 2, the Falcons have scored 10 goals in their last two games.

Rhynard Named Player of Week
Air Force senior forward Josh Rhynard has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation co-Player of the Week after registering two goals and one assist in the Falcons’ 6-3 win over UMKC Monday. Rhynard shared the award with UNLV junior forward Stephen Sifuentes, who scored two unassisted goals in a 4-2 home win over Houston Baptist on Sunday.
Rhynard’s goals came in the 29th and 48th-minutes, the third and fifth goals for Air Force. His assist came on Kyle Moses’ game-winning goal in the ninth minute. Rhynard took over the team’s scoring lead with that performance. He now has nine points this season on three goals and three assists.

Gullo Still Tops in the MPSF
Senior Jim Gullo continues to lead the MPSF in saves percentage (.767) and is second in goals-against average (1.12).
