Falcons Host UNLV and New Mexico This Weekend
The Air Force Falcons host its first Mountain pacific Sports Federation game of the season on Friday, Oct. 7 against UNLV at 7 p.m. On Sunday, the Falcons face 7th-ranked New Mexico at 1 p.m. at Cadet Soccer Stadium.
 
The Falcons moved to 6-2-1 with a scoreless draw at Denver last Saturday night. Air Force is 5-1-1 in its last seven games.
 
Underwood Comes up Big in 0-0 Tie at DU
Air Force goalkeeper Matt Underwood made a career-high 11 saves and posted his first shutout of the season last Saturday night as the Falcons battled the University of Denver to a scoreless tie in the MPSF opener for each club.
 
Underwood made six saves in regulation, then saved five shots during the 20-minute overtime and notched the third shutout of his career. Junior midfielder Kevin Durr led all players with six total shots, while junior Zane Dydasco had four total shots off the bench.
 
Durr Still Near Top of National and MPSF Stats
Despite the scoreless tie at Denver last Saturday, Air Force junior Kevin Durr continues to lead the MPSF and is tied for seventh nationally with six assists. Junior Garrett Getschow is second in the MPSF with six goals and John Melcher is tied with Durr for second in the conference averaging 1.56 points per game (14 points / nine games). Meanwhile, Matt Underwood leads the conference with 39 saves.
 
Teamwise, Air Force is tied for the conference lead and No. 6 in the nation in goals per game (2.44) and also tops the MPSF in assists per game (2.33) and points per game (7.22).

Air Force goalkeeper Matt Underwood made a career-high 11 saves and posted his first shutout of the season as the Falcons battled the University of Denver to a scoreless tie Saturday night at CIBER Field in the MPSF opener for each club.
 
Air Force (6-2-1, 0-0-1 MPSF) and Denver (2-4-3, 0-0-1 MPSF) each had 22 shots in the game with DU putting 11 shots on goal, compared to nine by the Falcons. The Pioneers held the advantage in corners at 6-3.

The scoreless tie was Air Force’s first since Oct. 7, 2005 when they battled then No. 1-ranked New Mexico to a 0-0 draw at Cadet Soccer Stadium.
