The Air Force men's soccer team defeated Central Arkansas, 1-0, Saturday in an exhibition game at Cadet Soccer Stadium. Junior defender Mitch Kim scored the only goal of the game in the 79th minute.
The play started with a free kick from senior midfielder Kevin Durr, who sent the ball into the box and Kim knocked it past the UCA goaltender. The Falcons held on for the last 10 minutes. Senior goalie Matt Underwood needed to make just one save in the game.
"I was pleased with our rhythm the entire game," said Air Force head coach Doug Hill. "We made some good adjustments on the field throughout the second half and they paid off with the goal. It was a good start to our season."
The Falcons open the 2012 regular season on Saturday, August 25 against service-academy rival Army in West Point, N.Y., beginning at 7 p.m. (ET).
