The Air Force men's soccer team was picked to finish in a tie with Denver for third place in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Preseason Coaches' Poll, the MPSF announced.

The Falcons return 19 letterwinners, including nine starters, from their 12-6-2 squad that finished second in the Mountain Division and third overall in the MPSF. Air Force lost in the semifinals of last season's conference tournament, 1-0, to CSU Bakersfield.

New Mexico was predicted to repeat as MPSF champion after advancing to the round of 16 in last year's NCAA Tournament, picked just ahead of CSU Bakersfield, which earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament last year.

The Falcons will play an exhibition game against Central Arkansas on Saturday, Aug. 18 at Cadet Soccer Stadium (1 p.m.) before opening the regular season at service-academy rival Army on Saturday, Aug. 25.
