Steven Noller Named Team MVP for 2008

Four men's soccer players were honored recently at the team's annual banquet, including. junior Steven Noller selected as the team's Most Valuable Player for the 2008 season. Junior Kevin Rosser was named the Most Inspirational Player, sophomore John Tilton the Most Improved Player and freshman Eric Wilson the Top Newcomer. Noller, a forward from Fort Collins, Colo., led the team in scoring with nine points. He scored four goals and added an assist during the season. Noller's four goals came in four consecutive games, the first Falcon to score a goal in four straight games since Ryan Schaeffer during the 1996 season. He tied for 10th in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation with his four goals and had two game-winners. Rosser, a midfielder from San Jose, Calif., finished second on the team in scoring with seven points on one goal and a team-high five assists. His lone goal was the game-winner in a 2-1 victory at Sacramento State. He tied for sixth in the MPSF in assists and two of his helpers were on game-winning goals. Rosser was a team-co-captain in 2008. Tilton, a defender from Arlington, Wash., was one of only four players to start all 18 games this season. He was third on the team in minutes played and notched the first point of his career by assisting on the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over service-academy rival Army. Wilson, a defender from Monument, Colo., started 16 of the team's 18 games and was third on the team in minutes played. He was a vital asset to a defense that allowed more than one goal just two times in AFA's last eight games. Air Force finished the season with a 5-13 overall record and a 3-7 mark in the MPSF, good for a tie for fourth place.
