U.S. Air Force Academy, CO – The men’s soccer team has announced nine matches for the 2017 spring schedule between March 4 and April 29. The Falcons will play four collegiate matches on the road and three at home.  The schedule also includes one professional match and the USAFA Alumni game.

“It’s a tough and competitive schedule,” said head coach Doug Hill. “This level of competition in the spring is immensely valuable for our cadet athletes. Being able to develop their skills in the off-season, against stout opponents, will pay valuable dividends in experience for next season.”

The opening game of the spring slate is against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, who finished third in the Western Conference of the United Soccer League, March 4. The Falcons will take the pitch at 1:00 p.m. MT, at Switchback Stadium, Colorado Springs, Colo.

In their first pair of road matches on the schedule, Air Force will meet with Loyola Marymount and CSU-Northridge, March 18, in Los Angeles, Calif.  The Falcons and Lions will take the pitch at 9:00 a.m. PT, followed by the match with CSU-Northridge at 2:00 p.m. PT. Loyola Marymount finished the 2016 season with a 10-8 overall mark, while the Matadors competed in the 2016 NCAA tournament.

Air Force returns home for a pair of matches, Saturday, April 8, at Cadet Soccer Stadium, USAFA.  The Falcons will host the Colorado School of Mines at 10:30 a.m. MT, and BYU, of the Premiere Development League, at 1:30 p.m. MT.

On Saturday, April 15, Air Force will return to the road for a match with the University of New Mexico, in Taos, N.M. The Lobos won the 2016 Conference USA championship and battled to the second round of the NCAA’s national tournament.

Air Force will meet with a pair of in-state rivals the following week with matches against the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and Denver, April 22. The Falcons will host UCCS at Cadet Soccer Stadium at 1:00 p.m. MT, then travel north to take on Denver the same evening at 6:00 p.m. MT.  Denver is returning from an impressive 2016 season in which they won the Summit League tournament championship and made a semi-finals appearance in the 2016 NCAA College Cup.

“We’re looking forward to competing,” continued Hill. “All of the teams on our spring schedule compete hard and play to win; it’s a great opportunity for our players.”

The spring schedule will conclude with the USAFA Alumni match at Cadet Soccer Stadium, Saturday, April 29, at noon.  All home matches are hosted at Cadet Soccer Stadium and are free admission.
