Falcons Fall in MPSF Semis to CSU Bakersfield 1-0 in Overtime
Nov. 11, 2011 The Air Force Falcons had their six-game unbeaten streak and 2011 season come to an end Friday night with a 1-0 overtime loss to CSU Bakersfield in the semifinals of the 2011 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament at CIBER Field on the campus of the University of Denver. With the victory, CSUB improved to 12-3-4 while the Falcons fell to 12-6-2. "We gave it our all tonight, that's for sure," said Air Force head coach Doug Hill. "It is tough to lose the last game of the season in overtime, but we had a great season and we lost to a very good team. Our future is bright with an excellent junior class." Kory Kindle won it for the second-seeded Roadrunners 4:21 into the extra period, taking a pass from Lucas Dall'Orso at the top of the box and placing a shot past Air Force goalie Matt Underwood. Underwood made seven saves in the game, while CSUB goalie Eric Shannon made four saves in posting the shutout. CSUB outshot the third-seeded Falcons 19-16 in total shots and 8-4 in shots on goal. Jesus Sanchez of CSUB led all players with six shots while Kevin Durr led the Falcons with four. Durr and teammate Eric Wilson were named to the all-tournament team. Air Force's 12 wins this year were the most in one season since finishing the 1997 season with a 13-5 record.
