Senior Kevin Rossillon and sophomore Matt Payne each scored the first goal of his career Saturday night but it was not enough as the Air Force men's soccer team lost 3-2 to the University of Denver in the 2012 regular season finale at CIBER Field in Denver. The Falcons fell to 8-8-3 overall and 5-3-2 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and will be the No. 3 seed at next week's MPSF Tournament.

Air Force needed a victory to clinch the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye at the MPSF Tournament, but will instead play the sixth-seed UNLV in the first round on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. in Albuquerque, N.M. The winner of that game will face No. 2-seeded CSU Bakersfield on Friday, Nov. 9.

Rossillon's first career goal cut DU's 2-0 lead in half in the 47th minute after the Pioneers scored in the fifth and 19th minute. Rossillon took a pass from senior Kevin Durr and fired a rocket from 27 yards past DU keeper Oliver Brown.

DU's Jordan Schweitzer then scored the game-winner in the 53rd minute with a shot that eluded Air Force goalie Matt Underwood, who finished the game with three saves. Payne then scored his first career goal in the 84th minute off a pass from junior Brian Klazura.

Denver held a slight 13-10 advantage in total shots and 7-4 in shots on goal. Four Pioneers and Klazura each had a game-high two shots. Brown made two saves for DU, which will play San Jose State in the other first-round contest on Thursday.
