The Air Force men's soccer team battled host CSU Bakersfield to a 1-1 tie in men's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Main Soccer Field. The Falcons, who secured a spot in the 2012 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament with the draw, moved to 8-7-3 overall and 5-2-2 in league play, while the Roadrunners are 8-4-5 and 5-3-1.

After a scoreless first half, CSUB scored in the 52nd minute on Jesus Sanchez's fourth goal of the year. Lucas Dall'Orso and Gyasi Zardes earned the assists on the play. Air Force junior Brian Klazura evened the game in the 56th minute with a blast from 25 yards out that eluded CSUB keeper Eric Shannon. Senior Garrett Getschow assisted on the play.

The Roadrunners outshot the Falcons 31-12 in total shots and 16-1 on goal. Zardes led all players with 11 shots. Air Force goalie Matt Underwood saved a career-high 13 shots, including a couple of spectacular saves in the first half, and the Falcons had two team saves. Underwood's 13 saves are the most in one game in the MPSF since 1998, as well as the third most in MPSF history (dating back to 1992).

Air Force clinched second place in the Mountain Division and will either be the No. 2 or No. 3 seed at the MPSF Tournament, held Nov. 8-11 in Albuquerque, N.M. The Falcons will play at the University of Denver on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m., in the regular season finale.
