Eric Wilson's second goal of his career led the Air Force men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over San Jose State Friday night at Spartan Stadium. The win moves Air Force to 8-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) action, while San Jose State fell to 6-5-3 and 3-3 in conference play.
Wilson, who scored his first career goal last Friday at UNLV, took a free kick in the 69th minute from junior Kevin Durr and knocked a diving header to the near post past Spartan goalie Jonathan Lester. Durr collected his team-high eighth assist on the play.
The Falcons outshot SJSU 15-to-13 in total shots and held a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal. AFA's John Melcher and SJSU's Craig Hertler each took a game-high four shots, while Hertler and Durr each had three shots on goal.
Underwood made three saves in posting his third shutout of the season. The Falcons return to action on Sunday, Oct. 23 at Sacramento State beginning at 1 p.m.
