Devon Sandoval headed a pass from Patrick Pacheco into the net with two seconds remaining Sunday to give the New Mexico men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Air Force at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Lobos improved to 6-4-2 overall and 3-2 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, while the Falcons fell to 4-9 overall and 2-3 in league play.

With the clock running down and it looking like the game would go to overtime, Pacheco raced down the right side and sent a crossing pass to the front of the net. Sandoval flicked the ball with his head from six yards out past Air Force goalie Matt Underwood just inside the left post as UNM avenged a 3-2 loss to the Falcons last Sunday in Albuquerque.

The Lobos had a 21-13 advantage in total shots and a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. Air Force did not attempt a shot on goal in the first half and its best chance came in the 76th minute when sophomore Kevin Durr attempted a bicycle lick in the box that was headed off the goal line by UNM's Matt Armstrong.

Underwood made four saves for Air Force, while Lobo keeper Justin Holmes made one save in recording his third shutout of the season.

Air Force returns to action next Friday, Oct. 22 against San Jose State at Cadet Soccer Stadium beginning at 7 p.m.
