Falcons Drop 2-0 Decision to CSU Northridge

    Sagi Lev-Ari and Edwin Rivas each scored and Michael Abalos made three saves as the Cal State Northridge men's soccer team downed Air Force, 2-0, Saturday night in Northridge, Calif. The Matadors improved to 6-3 this season, while Air Force fell to 3-5-1.

    Lev-Ari scored his ninth goal of the season in the 15th minute when he fired a shot from 20 yards out after receiving a touch pass from David Turcios off of a free kick. Air Force outshot CSUN, 7-6, in the first half but could not find the net as Abalos made all three of his saves in the first 45 minutes.

    Rivas added an insurance goal in the 81st minute after a pass from Carlos Benavides found him down the right side. Rivas moved the ball into the box and beat Falcon goalie Matt Underwood, who finished the game with four saves, including three in the second half.

    The Matadors outshot Air Force, 17-14 for the match, putting six on frame. Rivas led all players with six shots while senior Zane Dydasco finished with four shots to pace the Falcons.

    The Falcons open Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play next Saturday, Sept. 29 when they host the University of Denver at 7 p.m.
