Zach Kovacevic and Grant Bell each notched a second-half goal Sunday to lead the Bradley University men’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Air Force at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Braves improved to 4-2-1 while Air Force fell to 0-7.
Kovacevic scored just 28 seconds into the second half to give the Braves a 1-0 lead. He took a pass from Cody Lofgren and headed a shot from 10 yards that eluded Air Force goalie Jake Schenk for his second tally of the season. Bell added an insurance goal in the 64th minute after taking a pass from Wojciech Wojcik at the top of the box and placing a 15-yard shot that clanged off the right post and into the net.
Bradley keeper Brian Billings made four saves in the shutout, the sixth straight suffered by the Falcons. Shenk made six saves for Air Force.
The Braves had 24 total shots, compared to just nine for Air Force and Bradley held an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal. Junior Matt Payne led the Falcons with two shots, while Lofgren paced all players with four.
"Bradley is a very good team," said head coach Doug Hill. "We just need to concentrate on getting better heading into conference play."
The Falcons play their final non-conference game next Friday night, Sept. 27 against Cal Poly at Cadet Soccer Stadium beginning at 7 p.m.
