Despite a 26-7 advantage in total shots, the Air Force men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 decision to Oral Roberts Friday when Craig Rogers scored 7:06 into the first overtime period at Cadet Soccer Stadium. Rogers' goal gave ORU its first win of the season (1-5), while the Falcons had their two-game winning streak snapped and fell to 2-3-1 this season.

Rogers gathered in a loose ball just outside the box and fired a left-footed shot into the upper right corner of the net past the outstretched arm of Falcon goalie Matt Underwood. It was ORU's fifth shot on goal of the night as Underwood had saved the previous four. Conversely, Air Force put 11 shots on net, all saved by Isaac Sandoval, including a point blank save off a header from Falcon Scott McGillivray with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation. Air Force's Patrick Compton had a great chance to end the game in the final seconds of regulation but a shot towards an empty net went off the side of his foot and just wide.

"We dominated the play throughout the game but just could not finish our chances," said Air Force head coach Doug Hill. "We must also dominate on the scoreboard for us to be satisfied. Patrick Compton dominated in the air tonight and played a great game for us."

Senior Kevin Durr led all players with six shots, followed by Brian Klazura with five and Compton with four. Air Force held a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.

The Falcons return to action on Sunday, Sept. 16 when they host Presbyterian College at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The game is scheduled to begin at noon.
