Aug. 31, 2014
CSUN struck first with a goal in the 10th minute. Matador striker Sagi Levy-Ari took a pass from Fernando Samayoa and curled a shot straight over Falcon goalkeeper Jake Schenk from 25 yards out, head-on.
Undeterred, Air Force came right back with a goal a minute later to tie the match up. Zachary Modly took a pass from Cameron Duley and shot from the left side of the box to the right corner of the goal for the score.
The Falcons took the lead with a score in the 50th by Zach Hill. Hill got to a ball right before CSUN goalkeeper Kevin Marquez could and punched the ball in from eight yards out for the score. Gus Jensen was credited with the assist.
"It was great win after we expended a lot of energy Friday vs. Navy," Falcon soccer head coach Doug Hill said. "I like how our team responeded. Jake Schenk did a great job keeping us in game. It's always great getting a win against a quality oppenent like CSUN. It's now time to switch gears and get ready for another strong opponent in Army."
The Air Force defense clamped down after the first goal, holding CSUN scoreless over the final 80 minutes of play.
The Falcons controlled most of the match, holding advantages in shots (15-9) and corner kicks (10-2).
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Sept. 6, at Army.
