Falcons Slated to Host Richmond in NCAA Play-In Game

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Air Force lacrosse team will host Atlantic Sun champion Richmond in the play-in round of the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship on Wednesday, May 7. The game is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Falcon Stadium.
The Falcons, who have reached 10 wins for the first time since 1989, will make their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1988. Air Force, which currently holds a 10-5 overall record on the season, earned an automatic bid to the national tournament by capturing the ECAC tournament title. The Falcons, who entered the ECAC Championship as the third-seed, defeated second-seeded host Ohio State, 14-7, in the semifinals, while earning a 9-8 victory over top-seeded and 14th-ranked Fairfield.
Meanwhile, Richmond earned its automatic bid by capturing the Atlantic Sun tournament championship. After earning a 14-6 win over Mercer in the semifinals, the Spiders defeated High Point, 8-7, in the title game. Richmond has compiled a 6-10 overall record in its inaugural season of varsity competition.
The winner of Wednesday night's play-in game between Air Force and Richmond will advance to the NCAA First Round, facing the defending national champion, top-seeded Duke. That contest will be played on Sunday, May 11, at 5:15 p.m. (ET) in Durham, N.C.
