The Air Force lacrosse team will travel to Fairfield, Conn., on Saturday, May 1, to take on Sacred Heart in the team's final game of the season. The Falcons look to improve upon their 4-7 record in non-conference action. It will be the final career game for 11 graduating seniors. The Falcons will be looking for their highest single season win total in seven years under head coach Fred Acee. Twice, the team has reached four wins in a season. Air Force has already surpassed last year's win total of three, and that total could have been much higher. The Falcons have suffered four one-goal losses, including one overtime loss. The Falcons are coming off a 13-6 victory over Butler. D.J. Benzing had eight points in the team's win, the single game high under Acee. Benzing had four goals and four assists and is tied for second on the team in scoring with 19 total points. Greg Dangler, who has led the team in scoring each of the past two seasons, also has 19 points on 10 goals and nine assists. Freshman William Meister leads the team with 20 points on nine goals and a team-high 11 assists. Another freshman, Justin Kuchta, leads the Falcons in goals scored with 14. Senior William Keleher has 13 goals, while senior tri-captain Michael Colosimo has 10 goals. Minding the net is Justin Pavoni, who is in his first season as the team's starting goalkeeper. Pavoni is having an outstanding season between the pipes. With 141 saves and 78 goals against, he is fourth in the nation in save percentage (.644). His 7.54 goals against average ranks 15th in the country. Assisting on defense is freshman Stephen Whittenberg, who is usually matched up against the opponent's leading scorer.
Sacred Heart is 2-11 overall, but is coming off an 8-7 win over Marist on Wednesday.
