CENTERVILLE, Mass. - For the third-straight week, and fourth time this season, Air Force senior Mike Crampton has been named the ECAC Lacrosse League Offensive Player of the Week, as released by the league today. He was also named the Air Force Co-Athlete of the Week for the third time this season.
Crampton, a native of Kinnelon, N.J., scored eight goals and an assist to lead Air Force in a 19-6 rout of Mercer on Saturday afternoon. Crampton, who took just nine shots in the game, scored seven of his career-high eight goals in the first quarter alone, including three in the first three and a half minutes of action.
Crampton, who now ranks eighth all-time at the Academy with 109 career goals, became the first Falcon to score at least eight goals in a contest since 1994, when Mike Murphy and Bryan Salmon both accomplished the feat in separate games.
Other ECAC honorees this week included Fairfield's Jack Murphy and Michael Roe, who were named the defensive player and specialist of the week, respectively, while J.T. Blubaugh (Ohio State) and David Fleming (Fairfield) shared rookie of the week honors.
Air Force, which has won five straight games, closes out its home slate this Saturday, April 12, with a crucial ECAC match-up versus 11th-ranked Fairfield.
