Air Force Lacrosse Goalie Named League Player of the Week
April 3, 2003 William Arnold was named the Great Western Lacrosse League (GWLL) player of the week after an outstanding performance in goal in the Falcons' 8-6 victory over No. 12 Navy on March 25. It was the Falcons' first-ever win over Navy and their first-ever victory over a ranked opponent. "Arnold did an outstanding job against Navy," head coach Fred Acee said. "He has been a very tough competitor his entire career and deserves to be recognized for his hard work and superb goaltending." Arnold notched 16 saves against Navy, including three in the final quarter to help preserve the victory. Navy had been averaging over 10 goals per game coming into the match, but were held to just six by Arnold and a stifling Air Force defense. For the season, Arnold is averaging over 14.4 saves per game, with a save percentage of .647.
The Falcons are 2-5 overall and kick off league action on the road on Sunday, April 6, against Fairfield.
