Falcons Defeat VMI, 5-3, in Men's Lacrosse

The Air Force lacrosse team scored five of the game's first six goals, then fought off a fourth-quarter rally to defeat VMI, 5-3, Saturday, Mar. 31, at Johns Hopkins University.

Air Force got on the board first as sophomore Eric Lederer scored an unassisted goal with 11:03 remaining in the first quarter. VMI retaliated quickly as senior Brad Muston tied the game with 8:14 remaining in the opening frame. The Falcons closed the scoring for the quarter and the half as senior John Agnew scored unassisted with 2:06 left in the stanza, giving Air Force a 2-1 lead that they would carry into halftime.

Air Force, which improved to 3-7 this season, took control of the game in the third quarter by outscoring VMI 3-0 on goals by Agnew, Matt Dudderer and Nate Koss. Two of the goals were scored with an extra-man advantage. With 9:40 remaining in regulation, the Keydets began to rally as Muston scored his second goal of the game to trim the lead to three. VMI crept closer with 3:50 remaining on an unassisted goal by freshman Leo McInerney. The Keydets continued to keep the pressure on, as two VMI shots hit the crossbar of the goal and Air Force held on to the two-goal victory. Agnew led the Falcons with two goals and an assist, while Muston led the Keydets in scoring with two goals.

Air Force is idle this week before taking on Notre Dame in South Bend on Monday, April 9.
