USAFA, Colo. - Air Force senior David Rose was named the Great Western Lacrosse League Player of the Week, as announced Wednesday afternoon. It marks the first career weekly honor for Rose, and the first for an Air Force player this season.

Rose, a native of Allentown, Pa., led the Falcons to an 8-7 overtime victory over Providence in their season opener last week, registering five goals, including the game-winner. Rose, who entered the contest with two career goals, had a 1.000 shooting percentage against the Friars, scoring on all five shots he took in the game.

Last weekend, Rose also scored a goal in Air Force's loss to Army, currently ranked 17th in the nation.

The Falcons are back in action this weekend, March 8-9, when they head to Denver, Colo., for the annual Pioneer Face-off Classic. Air Force will face a pair of Ivy League opponents, meeting Penn on Saturday and Brown on Sunday. Both games are slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. at Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
