Air Force Drops 7-3 Contest To No. 8 Army
March 24, 2007
West Point, N.Y. - Despite leading at intermission, the Air Force lacrosse team was shut out in the second half, falling, 7-3, to eighth-ranked Army Saturday afternoon at Michie Stadium. The Falcons drop to 1-5 on the season with the loss, while the Black Knights improve to 6-1 overall.
Air Force notched the only score of the opening period, as Justin Kuchta (Sr., Ridgefield, Conn.) took the assist from Griffin Nevitt (So., Charlotte, N.C.) to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Air Force increased its advantage to 2-0 just over 30 seconds into the second period with another Kuchta goal, this time on the assist from senior Will Meister (Denver, Colo.). Although a man-up goal with 8:30 remaining in the half brought Army back withing one, the Falcons closed out the period with another score, as Conrad Lochocki (Sr., Chalfont, Pa.) got the assist from Nevitt.
Unfortunately, the Falcons were unable to score again in the game, as the Black Knights tallied three goals in each of the final two periods to take the 7-3 victory.
The Falcons did outshoot the Black Knights, 28-27, but could not capitalize, as Army's Adam Fullerton notched 15 saves in the contest, including eight in the second half. Air Force also won 9-of-13 face-offs, but went 0-of-3 on the extra-man opportunities.
After taking next weekend off, the Falcons return to action April 7 in their GWLL opener, when they visit Quinnipiac in a 12:00 p.m. (ET) contest.
