Falcons are idle until Nov. 12
This Week: Air Force is 2-2-2 overall this season. The Falcons are idle until Nov. 12 & 14 when AFA hosts Alabama-Huntsville in a two-game College Hockey America series.
The Rankings: Neither Air Force or Alabama-Huntsville is ranked. Radio/Internet/Television: Both UAH games will be broadcast in Colorado Springs on The Sports Animal AM 1300. Information on the broadcast as well as internet and telephone availability is on page two of this release. No television. The Coaches: Air Force coach Frank Serratore is in his eighth season with the Falcons. Serratore has a 107-136-17 record at AFA and a 156-227-26 record in his 12th year. UAH coach Doug Ross is in his 23rd year at UAH with a record of 406-236-22. He is in his 26th year as a college head coach with a record of 462-262-34. Conference Home Openers: In the first home conference home series of the season, the Falcons are 3-7. The only victories are over Findlay in 1999-00, 2000-01 2002-03. In the first conference home game, the Falcons are 1-4 with the only victory in a conference home opener coming in AFA's first ever home CHA game. The Falcons beat Findlay, 8-1, Nov. 12, 1999. Last season, AFA's first home conference series came against Niagara in late November. The Purple Eagles beat the Falcons, 3-2 in overtime and 5-2. Scouting the Opponents: UAH is 2-1-1 overall this season. The Chargers split with Holy Cross at home to open the season, Oct. 22-23. Holy Cross won the first game, 4-2, while UAH won the second game, 4-2. Last weekend, UAH went on the road and beat Yale, 5-2, and then tied Princeton, 5-5, in overtime. Senior center Jared Ross leads the team with six assists and eight points in four games. Junior Bruce Mulherin leads the team with four goals. Junior Scott Munroe has played 155 of the team 245 minutes in goal and has a 1-1-1 record with a 90.0 saves percentage and a 2.70 goals against average. Series Notes: Air Force and UAH have played 45 times and the Chargers hold a 31-12-2 lead in the series that began in 1984. The Chargers had won three straight in the series until AFA won, 3-1, at Cadet Ice Arena last season. The Chargers are 13-10-1 vs. Air Force at Cadet Ice Arena. AFA has beaten UAH just four times since 1990 (4-23-2). Two of AFA's wins came in a sweep at Cadet Ice Arena in 2002 as the Falcons won 6-3 and 6-5.
