Falcons and Griffs skate to 2-2 overtime tie
Canisius goalie Charles Williams made 46 saves the Griffs came back from a 2-0 deficit to force a 2-2 overtime tie with Air Force in an Atlantic Hockey Conference game Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Academy's Cadet Ice Arena. Air Force is still in first place in the conference, 13-7-4 overall and 10-4-2 in the league.

No. 18 Air Force (4-1-1, 0-0-0 AHC) travels to western New York for a two-game Atlantic Series against the Canisius Golden Griffins (1-1-1, 1-1-0 AHC), Friday-Saturday, Oct. 27-28, at 7:35 pm ET each night at the HarborCenter in Buffalo, N.Y.

Air Force is ranked 18th in this week’s poll. The Falcons have been ranked every week this season. The highest was No. 17 in the preseason poll. Air Force is receiving votes in the USA Hockey/USA Today poll.

Every home game and every Atlantic Hockey game will be streamed on for a subscription fee.

Both games will be broadcast on Xtra Sports 1300 and will be available online at  Jay Ritchie will call the play-by-play while Dave Toller will provide color analysis. Pregame show begins 30 minutes before faceoff each day.

Air Force earned just its second win ever in Bemidji with a 5-1 victory on Oct. 21 ... Matt Serratore led the Falcons with three points (2-1-3) in the series ... Defenseman Matt Koch scored his third goal of the season to tie Erik Baskin for the team lead ... Baskin scored a goal in each game against ASU ... Billy Christopoulos’ 32 saves in the 3-2 win on Oct. 6 are the second most of his career (39 vs. Denver last season) ... He has had 29 or more saves three times this season ... AF had a season high 42 shots in game one vs. ASU ... Air Force’s five goals vs. Bemidji State are a season high ... The Falcons have scored one goal twice this season (Alaska and BSU) ... Billy Christopoulos ranks eighth in the nation with 184 saves ... Matt Koch is tied for ninth in the nation in points by a defenseman with six (3-3-6).
Scouting the Griffs
Canisius is 1-1-1 overall this season and 1-1-0 in league play. The Griffs, the 2017 AHC regular season champions, opened the season at home against Robert Morris and split the series, winning game two, 4-1. Last week, Canisius tied Colgate, 3-3, in overtime. Junior Dylan McLaughlin leads the team with four assists and six points. Nick Hutchison leads the Griffs with three goals. Sophomore Daniel Urbani and junior Simon Hofley have split time in goal. Urbani has started two of the three games and has a 1.93 GAA and a  .938 saves percentage. Trevor Large is in his season as the Griffs head coach after spending three seasons as an assistant at Canisius. Prior to Canisius, he spent six seasons as an assistant at Army.

Series vs. Canisius
 Air Force and Canisius have played 38 times and the Falcons hold an 17-12-9 lead in the series that began in 2006. In games played in Buffalo, Air Force leads the series, 8-4-4. The teams have played at the HarborCenter four times. In 2014-15, the teams split a two-game series. In 2016-17, Air Force took three points.
