HAVERHILL, Mass. - In conjunction with the Atlantic Hockey Association strategic planning committee, the league's presence on a bevy of social media platforms will be expanding significantly heading into the 2013-14 season. Chief among these initiatives will be the launch of an "11 For 11" campaign aimed at growing the league's official Facebook following to 1,100 likes at the start of the 11th season of AHA hockey.
In addition to its Facebook push, the AHA will greatly expand its presence on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube over the coming weeks. Fans are encouraged to follow, interact and gain real-time news from all of these platforms throughout the 2013-14 campaign.
The AHA's "11 For 11" campaign will look to meet the 1,100 "likes" mark before the league's first game on Oct. 5 featuring Clarkson at Niagara. Fans are encouraged to search "Atlantic Hockey Assoc." through Facebook and "like" the page prior to the first game. In addition to the "11 For 11" campaign, the league plans to expand its Facebook presence to include photo caption contests, Throwback Thursday, Trivia Tuesday, and more. Click here to "like" the page today.
Be sure to "follow" the AHA on Twitter for real-time news updates leading up to and throughout the 2013-14 season. Fans are highly encouraged to use the hashtag #AHA beginning immediately.
Photos from all AHA teams and other special events can now be viewed on Pinterest. Boards for each team, coaches, rinks, all-conference teams and more can be pinned now at www.pinterest.com/AtlanticHockey. Photos taken in real-time, to include those submitted by fans, will be available via the AHA's Instagram account at www.instagram.com/AtlanticHockey. Once again, fans are highly encouraged to use the hashtag #AHA when posting photos.
Finally, the league's plan to expand its bank of videos on YouTube is underway. Game highlights, features and weekly interviews will all be posted on the league's official YouTube page throughout the season.
The Atlantic Hockey Association arose when nine institutions joined together on June 30, 2003, to found a new Division-I men's ice hockey conference. The league currently consists of twelve members: Air Force Academy, American International College, Army, Bentley College, Canisius College, the University of Connecticut, the College of the Holy Cross, Mercyhurst College, Niagara University, Robert Morris University, Rochester Institute of Technology and Sacred Heart University.
