Head coaches Frank Serratore of Air Force and Scott Owens of Colorado College will be center stage as usual during the annual Sports Corp College Hockey Face Off Luncheon on Wednesday, October 2, at the Colorado Springs Marriott at Noon.
Air Force finished 17-13-7 last year, losing at home to league champion Canisius in the AHA Quarterfinals while CC went 18-19-5, but finished strong, defeating Denver in the WCHA playoffs, then stunning North Dakota and Minnesota in the WCHA Championships before dropping a 3-2 heartbreaker to Wisconsin.
Air Force opens the season Monday, Oct. 5 with an exhibition game against the Univeristy of Brunswick at 6:05 p.m. at the Cadet Ice Arena. The Falcons open the regular season at the Kendall Hockey Classic in Anchorage, Alaska, Oct. 11-12. AFA's first regular-season home series is Oct. 18-19 as Penn State comes to Cadet Ice Arena for a pair of non-conference games.
CC opens its season on Saturday, October 5 with an exhibition against the University of New Brunswick at the Colorado Springs World Arena as the Tigers kick off their first season in the new National Collegiate Hockey Conference. The Tigers also play the USA Under-18 team at the World Arena on Oct. 12 before hosting Minnesota-Duluth on October 18 in their nationally televised NCHC opener.
CC and Air Force resume their intra-city rivalry with a single game on November 19 at the Colorado Springs World Arena.
