School-record 13 Falcons named Academic All-Atlantic Hockey

    U.S AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - A school-record 13 Air Force hockey players were named to the Atlantic Hockey Association all-academic team, as announced by the league office. The 13 selections broke the old mark of 12 set last season.

    Graduated seniors Jason Fabian (3.23 GPA in 2013-14 in management), Adam McKenzie (3.80 GPA in 2013-14 in aeronautical engineering), Tony Thomas (3.38 GPA in 2013-14 in management) and Jason Torf (3.25 GPA in 2013-14 in aeronautical engineering) were all named to the team. McKenzie was honored for the fourth time, Fabian and Torf for the third and Thomas for the second time.

    Rising seniors Chad Demers (3.68 GPA in 2013-14 in management), Mike McDonald (3.37 GPA in 2013-14 in management), George Michalke III (3.37 GPA in 2013-14 in management), Ben Persian (3.60 GPA in 2013-14 in economics) and Dan Weissenhofer (3.34 GPA in 2013-14 in management) were also honored. Persian was named for the third time while Demers, McDonald, Michalke and Weissenhofer were all named for the first time.

    Rising junior Chris Dylewski (3.97 GPA in 2013-14 in aeronautical engineering) was named for the second time.

     

     

    Rising sophomores Max Birkinbine (3.38 GPA in 2013-14 with an undeclared major), Ryan Dau (3.06 GPA in 2013-14 in management) and Chris Truehl (3.39 GPA in 2013-14 in economics) were honored for the first time.

    To qualify for the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team an individual must post a 3.0 grade point average or higher in all of the academic periods during which his team was actively competing.
