Lamoureux and Torf earn AHA monthly honors

USAFA, Colo. - Air Force forward Jacques Lamoureux and goalie Jason Torf were honored by the Atlantic Hockey Association as the Player and Goalie of the Month, respectively, for March. Lamoureux was named the player of the month, his first of the season and second of his career. Lamoureux was named the MVP of the AHA Tournament as he scored three goals in two games, including both game-winners, at the Final Four. In the semifinal win over Holy Cross, he scored two goals in the third period to erase a 2-1 deficit as AFA won, 3-2. In the championship win over RIT, he scored the game's only goal. Lamoureux led Air Force to a sweep of Sacred Heart in the AHA Quarterfinals, March 11-12, as he scored three goals and one assist in the two games. The senior from Grand Forks, N.D., won the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for his excellence in the classroom, community, character and competition. He ended the season as the national leader in power-play goals with 13 Torf was named the AHA goalie of the month, his second honor of the season. He was named the goaltender on the AHA all-tournament team as he helped lead AFA to its fourth championship in the last five years. The freshman from Hermosa Beach, Calif., recorded his first career shutout in the AHA Quarterfinals on March 12 vs. Sacred Heart. Torf made 16 saves in the 4-0 win as Air Force advanced to its fifth straight AHA Final Four. He then stopped 28 of 30 shots, includ¬ing 11 in the third period, as Air Force beat Holy Cross in the AHA Semifinals. Torf's second career shutout came in the AHA Championship Game with a 1-0 win over RIT as he tied his career high with 40 saves in the game.
