Starrett and Himley earn AHC Player of Month awards

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force’s Shane Starrett and Jordan Himley earned Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month awards in helping lead the Falcons to a 6-1-1 record in the month of February.

Starrett was named the AHC Goalie of the Month as he posted six wins and had a 1.48 GAA. His wins and GAA were the best among all AHC goalies while his .938 saves percentage was the second best in the league. The sophomore from Bellingham, Mass., recorded shutouts in victories over AIC and Sacred Heart. He has three shutouts this season and seven for his career. Starrett also posted 34 saves in the 4-2 win over RIT, Feb. 17. He assisted on the game-winning goal vs. RIT in the 3-2 win over Feb. 18.

Himley was named the AHC Player of the Month as his 11 points in February are the most of any player in the league. The junior winger from Mundelein, Ill., had four goals and seven assists and scored at least one point in six of the eight games. Himley tied his career high with three points (1-2-3) in the win over Bentley on Feb. 4 He had four points in the AIC series with two assists in each game. Himley tied his career high with two goals, including the game-winner, in the win over Sacred Heart.

Air Force, 22-9-5 overall and 19-6-3 AHC, is the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Hockey playoffs and is idle this week. The Falcons will host an AHC quarterfinal series, March 10-12, at the Cadet Ice Arena.
