Feb. 20, 2018

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force freshman defenseman Zack Mirageas was named the Travel Team USA Atlantic Hockey Conference Rookie of the Week in helping Air Force to a sweep of first-place Canisius, Feb. 16-17.

A native of Newburyport, Mass., Mirageas' three points (0-3-3) in the Canisius series were the most by any freshman last week. In the first game, he tied his career high with two points (0-2-2) in the 7-4 win. He added an assist in Saturday's 3-2 win. All three of his assists were first (primary) assists, including the assist on the game-winner both nights.  His +4 in the series was the best in the league last week by any player.

The weekly award is the first of Mirageas' career and the eighth by a Falcon. Mirageas is the third Falcon (Jake Levin and Alex Mehnert) to earn Rookie of the Week honors.

Air Force (17-13-4, 12-11-3 AHC) closes out the regular season with a two-game road series at Robert Morris, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 23-24, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Air Force is tied for fourth in Atlantic hockey while Robert Morris is tied for sixth.
