U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force junior defenseman Phil Boje was named the Travel Team USA Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of Week in helping lead Air Force to three points in the series against AIC, Feb. 10-11.
Boje, from Shoreview, Minn., had two points (1-1-2) in the series. He keyed a defense that held AIC to three goals in the series and held the Yellow Jackets to just 17 shots on goal in the first game . After an assist on Friday, he scored the game-tying goal on Saturday with 2:37 left in the third to force the 3-3 overtime tie. In addition, he blocked three shots in the series . Boje has scored a point in six straight games (2-5-7). On the season, he is second in the league in points by defenseman in all games (6-17-23) and is third in the league, 18th in the nation, with 62 blocked shots.
The weekly award is the second of the season for Boje.
Air Force (19-8-5 overall and 16-5-3 AHC) travels to Rochester, N.Y., for a two-game league series against the RIT Tigers, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 17-18, at 7:05 pm ET each night. Air Force is in second place in the league while RIT is tied for sixth.
