#20 Air Force falls at Bemidji State, 4-1

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State scored three third-period goals for a 4-1 win over No. 20 Air Force in a non-conference college hockey game Friday, Oct. 20, at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn.

Bemidji State (2-0-1 overall) held a 10-3 shot advantage through the first 15 minutes of the game, but it was Air Force that scored first. Jordan Himley’s shot was saved, but Matt Serratore put back the rebound for his first goal of the season. The Bemidji native, playing for his uncle, Frank, and against his father, Tom, the Bemidji State coach, gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead at 16:50 of the first.

The Beavers tied the game early on the second when Adam Brady took a shot from a sharp angle at the bottom of the left circle at 2:45.

Early in the third period, Kyle Bauman scored at 2:39 for a 2-1 lead. Myles Fitzgerald then took the puck down the left wing, skated around a Falcon defenseman and scored at 7:13. Bauman’s second of the game came short-handed with 4:12 left in the game.

Bemidji State outshot Air Force, 29-16, including a 10-5 advantage in the first and 11-3 in the third. BSU was 0-for-4 on the power play while AF was 0-for-3. Billy Christopoulos made 22 saves for the Falcons.

Air Force (3-1-1 overall) and Bemidji State conclude the two-game series on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Sanford Center.
