USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force men's gymnastics team added former Academy gymnast Josh Loeser to its coaching staff, head coach Kip Simons officially announced on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Loeser will join Simons and third-year assistant coach Jeff Robinson on the Falcons' coaching staff for the 2013 season.
Loeser joined the Academy staff following a two-year stint at Reflex Gymnastics and Cheer Academy in Pearland, Texas, where he spent one year as an assistant coach for boys in Levels 4-10, before being promoted to Boy's Team Director in June 2011. During his tenure, three Level 10 gymnasts qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals and the Level 4 team won the Texas South state championships.
Prior to joining the staff at Reflex, Loeser served as an assistant coach for Level 4-10 gymnasts at Gulf Coast Gymnastics in his hometown of Alvin, Texas, where he coached the boy's team to the Texas Muscle Man Championship title in 2009.
He has also coached at several gymnastics camps over the summer, including two summers with Simons at the Academy's Falcon Sports Camps. Loeser also worked with three-time Olympian John Roethlisberger at the FlipFest Gymnastics Camp in Crossville, Tenn., where he coached boys and girls from levels 4-10.
A three-time state qualifier in the all-around for Gulf Gymnastics during his prep days, Loeser spent three years as a member of the Air Force gymnastics team. Following his Academy career, he spent two years in the Air Force, serving as an Admissions/Dispositions Clerk and Member Services Clerk at Lackland AFB, Texas.
He is a 2012 graduate of the University of Houston, where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics.
The Falcons open the season at the Academy on Saturday, Jan. 18, when they host the 32nd annual Rocky Mountain Open at the Cadet West Gym.
