Eight Gymnasts Accept Appointments to Academy
June 13, 2011
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's gymnastics head coach Kip Simons announced today that eight gymnasts accepted appointments to the Air Force Academy as members of the Class of 2015. The incoming gymnasts will be joining a squad that has won the last two USAG national titles and made their first appearance at the NCAA Championships since 1998. "This is, by far, the best recruiting class that has been assembled in the last decade," Simons said of the group. "I fully anticipate, with the amount of raw talent that this class brings in, that men's gymnastics will take another step forward in the national rankings." APPOINTEES FOR THE CLASS OF 2015 "The coaching staff is thrilled to begin to develop the full potential of such a talented bunch of young men," Simons added. The appointees will report to the Academy on Thursday, June 23, for in-processing and the beginning of Basic Cadet Training. Classes begin in early August, with the first gymnastics meet of the season scheduled for early January.
