WOODLAND, Calif. – A program-best five members of the Air Force men’s gymnastics team were earned All-Academic Scholar-Athlete honors from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, executive director Al Beaird announced this morning (April 14).
The Falcons’ five selections are tied with the 2012 and 2002 squads for the most in Academy history.
Junior Jonathon Fornoff (Bartlett, Ill.) captured All-Academic honors for the second straight year, while senior Chase Cannon (Knoxville, Tenn.) and the sophomore trio of Eric Klein (West Brookfield, Mass.), Jake Stanley (San Antonio, Texas) and Lukas Texeira (Waukesha, Wis.) all earned their first such honor.
To be considered an All-Academic Scholar-Athlete selection, student-athletes must hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher, be at least a sophomore with one full academic year completed at the member institution, and have competed in 50-percent or more of the institution’s competitions.
A total of 30 gymnasts received academic honors from the MPSF for the 2017 season.
