Air Force Earns Seventh Straight Bid to NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Air Force men’s gymnastics team, ranked 10th in the national standings, was selected to compete at the 2017 NCAA Championships in West Point, N.Y., the men’s gymnastics selection committee announced this afternoon (April 11). It is the seventh-straight year that the Falcons have advanced as a team to the National Qualifier.

Under the direction of second-year head coach Jeff Robinson, Air Force amassed a National Qualifying Average (NQA) of 404.988 to finish as one of 12 teams that will compete in the opening round of the NCAA Championships. In addition to the 12 squads that earned a bid into the National Qualifier, gymnasts from four other programs were selected to compete as event specialists.

The National Qualifier, which consists of two preliminary sessions will be held on Friday, April 21, at the Holleder Center’s Christl Arena on the campus of the U.S. Military Academy. The top three teams, the top three all-arounders not on an advancing team, and the top three individuals on each event that are not already on an advancing team or qualified in the all-around, will compete in the finals of the NCAA Championships on Saturday, April 22.

Air Force is slated to compete in Friday’s first qualifying session at 1:00 p.m.
