Air Force Earns Second Straight Berth to NCAA Qualifier

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The 12th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team was selected to compete at the 2012 NCAA National Qualifier, the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Committee announced this afternoon (April 10). The invitation marks the second straight year that the Falcons have earned a spot at the national championship meet.

    Air Force amassed a qualifying score of 336.312 to rank 12th in the national standings and will compete in the second session of the NCAA Qualifier on Thursday, April 19.

    Joining the Falcons in the 7 p.m. qualifying session will be host and top-ranked Oklahoma, No. 4 Illinois, No. 5 Minnesota, No. 8 California and No. 9 Temple. The afternoon session (2 p.m.) session will feature No. 2 Penn State, defending national champions and third-ranked Stanford, No. 6 Michigan, No. 7 Ohio State, No. 10 Nebraska and No. 11 Iowa.

    The national qualifier, which consists of two sessions, will be conducted April 19 at the Lloyd Noble Center on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. The top three teams and top three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams, plus the top three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor, will advance to the NCAA National Gymnastics Championships, which will take place on April 20 (team finals) and April 21 (event finals).
