NORMAN, Okla. - Air Force men's gymnastics head coach Kip Simons was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation co-Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the conference meet in Norman, Okla. It is the second such coaching award for Simons, who shared the 2014 honor with Stanford's Thom Glielmi.

Simons, who also claimed the coaching honor during his first season (2006), has led the Falcons to seven of the 10 highest scores in Academy history this year, including a record-score of 439.700 against Illinois-Chicago. Most recently, the Falcons won their fifth straight USAG National Championship title with a victory of nearly four points over their closest competitor.

He coached Denis Aurelius to the Academy's first USAG national title on the floor exercise since 2007, while Nick Gaudlip (high bar), Nick Owen (pommel horse) and Josh Ramos (parallel bars) all claimed their second title in their respective events. He also saw Tim Wang set Academy records on the pommel horse (15.100) and all-around (88.400), while claiming two USAG All-America certificates, two CGA Gymnast of the Week and one MPSF Gymnast of the Week.

The Falcons have been ranked among the nation's top 10 all season.
