Brian Moore Selected to NCAA Championships
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Senior Brian Moore will close out an impressive four-year collegiate career representing the Air Force Academy as an all-around competitor at the 2006 NCAA Men's National Collegiate Gymnastics Championships, the selection committee announced this afternoon (March 28).
The NCAA Championships will be held April 6-8 at the Lloyd-Noble Center in Norman, Okla.
A two-time team captain, Moore qualified for the all-around after setting a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 45.920. Contributing to his score were four season-high marks set last weekend at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, where he finished sixth in the all-around with a season-best 47.050. He also set season-best marks on the pommel horse (7.650), still rings (7.900) and vault (8.500) at the conference meet. His other best marks this year are 7.950 (floor exercise), 8.300 (parallel bars) and 7.750 (high bar).
It is the second time in his career that Moore was chosen to compete at the national meet. In 2003, he was a NCAA Qualifier on the floor exercise. Moore is the first Academy athlete since Jeff Andersen and Greg Stine in 2004 to compete in the all-around at the national qualifier.
Moore will compete in one of two national qualifying sessions on April 6 (1 p.m. or 7 p.m.). He will be joined by all-around competitors from the 12 qualified teams, as well as five other at-large all-arounders. Joining Moore as at-large competitors are Navy's Christopher Tam, Ben Peterman and Grant Regelin, Illinois-Chicago's Tim Morrison and James Madison's Scott Flinn.
