Nash Mills Named CGA Athlete of the Week for Third Time
March 24, 2011
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force senior Nash Mills was named the College Gymnastics Association National Gymnast of the Week (Collegiate Division), the CGA announced on March 24. It is the third such award of the season with Mills and the fifth of his career. Mills shared the weekly honor with Nebraska's Wyatt Aycock, who received the honor for the NCAA Division. The divisional winners for the CGA Gymnasts of the Week are voted on by all 17 college varsity coaches, 28 of the association's Honorary Life Members and seven coaches from major club programs. With three first-place finishes, Mills led the Falcons to an Academy-record team score of 347.500. The senior improved his career-best score on the still rings by a half-point to 15.300 to win the still rings and record the ninth-best total in Academy history. Mills also finished first on the parallel bars (14.400) and high bar (14.000), while picking up a third-place finish on the vault (15.200). The Falcons return to action this weekend (March 25-26), when they travel to Springfield, Mass., for the 2011 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships. Air Force will look to defend its title on Friday, March 26, before competing in the individual event finals on Saturday, March 26.
