USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - After helping the Air Force men's gymnastics team to a perfect 3-0 weekend, junior Nash Mills was named the USAG Collegiate Division Gymnast of the Week, the College Gymnastics Association announced late Wednesday (March 17). It is the second honor of the season for Mills, who shared the honor with Cal's Glen Ishino, who was named the NCAA Division winner.
Backed by Mills' four titles, the Falcons defeated service academy rival Army by 10 points on Friday, March 12, before posting the second-highest team score ever (342.950) in victories over William and Mary (337.800) and Springfield (336.650) on Sunday, March 14.
Mills won the all-around (84.350), vault (15.600) and high bar (tie, 14.150) at Army on Friday, March 12, while finishing as the runner-up on the still rings (14.250). In addition, he finished within the top six on the pommel horse (career-best, 13.900) and parallel bars (13.150).
Matching his personal-best score of 86.300, Mills won the all-around on Sunday, during the tri-meet at Springfield. Bettering the field by over two points in the multi-event competition, he finished second on the still rings (14.000) and high bar (tie, 14.250). Mills also placed third on the vault (15.550) and parallel bars (14.450), while tying for sixth on the pommel horse (13.500).
The Falcons close out the regular season on Friday, March 19, when they travel to Tucson, Ariz., for a tri-meet with Arizona State and Washington.
