Air Force Closes Out Regular Season at Nebraska
COMING UP: Air Force will close out the regular season with a trip to Nebraska on Sunday, March 19. The Falcons and Cornhuskers will meet for the second time this season at the Bob Devaney Center on Nebraska's campus at 2:00 p.m. It will be the final tune-up for the two squads, as they will both return to the Academy the following week for the MPSF Championships.
HAVEN'T WE MET BEFORE?: This will be the second meeting of the season for Air Force and Nebraska, as the Cornhuskers traveled to the Academy in early January for the Rocky Mountain Open. The two programs will meet once more, back at the Academy, when Air Force hosts the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Saturday, March 25.
SENIOR SALUTE: Prior to the Falcons' final home dual meet of the season, Air Force honored its two senior members. Brian Moore and Eric Peele have been the core for this young team over the course of the season. Moore has been a team captain for the past two seasons and both he and Peele have been NCAA Qualifiers over the course of their careers.
MORE MOORE: With a combined score of 45.000, senior Brian Moore won the all-around at the Peter Vidmar Invitational on March 2. As a team, the Falcons finished second of varsity-level teams and fourth overall. Moore scored a 45.000 to win the multi-event by over half of a point. Contributing to his total was a ninth-place score of 7.750 on the high bar. He also posted a top-10 score of 7.650 on the parallel bars, while adding 8.200 on the vault, 7.250 on the still rings, 7.200 on the floor exercise and 6.950 on the pommel horse.
CALIFORNIA DREAMING: Air Force spent three straight meets in California, dating back to the All-Academy Championships on Feb. 18. Following the meet in Aliso Viejo, the Falcons traveled to Oakland for the Pacific Coast Classic, before closing out the tour at the Peter Vidmar Invitational in Brentwood.
MPSF MEET: The Air Force Academy will host the 2006 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, March 25. The meet will follow the MPSF Women's Gymnastics Championships, which is slated for Friday, March 24. Both events will take place in the Cadet West Gym and are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., on both nights.
ON THE HORIZON: Air Force returns to the Academy on Saturday, March 18, as it hosts the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnastics Championships.
