Falcons Pick Up Nine Top-Six Finishes
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- With three top-six finishes, senior Brian Moore led the Air Force men's gymnastics team, as they concluded a weekend of dual meet action with Illinois-Chicago on Sunday, March 12, at the Academy. Moore was one of six Falcons that accounted for nine finishes within the top six. Overall, Air Force dropped the contest with the Flames by a 203.925-183.475 decision.
Moore, who was honored along with fellow senior Eric Peele prior to the meet, posted the squad's best overall finish, claiming a third-place score of 7.450 on the pommel horse. He also tied for fourth on the parallel bars (7.700) and finished sixth on the still rings (7.650).
Sophomore Brian Boardman also had a strong afternoon, picking up a pair of fourth-place finishes. Boardman tied with Moore for fourth on the parallel bars with a score of 7.700, while also placing fourth on the pommel horse with a mark of 7.250.
Boardman's classmates Tyler Sickles and Jon Roberts claimed the fifth and sixth-place spots on the high bar. Sickles claimed a score of 8.200, while Roberts recorded a mark of 7.950.
Rounding out the top-six finishers, were juniors Edwin Berry and Kurt Antonio. Berry finished fifth on the pommel horse with a 7.000, while Antonio tied for sixth on the parallel bars with a score of 7.650.
Antonio also posted the team's top mark on the floor exercise with an 8.050, while Moore used a 7.650 to top the Falcons' lineup on the still rings. Moore and Antonio also competed in the all-around, finishing second (45.750) and third (45.250), respectively.
The Falcons close out the regular season next Saturday (March 18), when they travel to Lincoln, Neb., for a dual meet with Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe Nebraska. The meet, which will take place at the Bob Devaney Center, is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
