Ryan Stromstad Wins the Floor on a Career-Best Performance

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Sophomore Ryan Stromstad (Corona, Calif.) set a career-best 9.200 on the floor to lead the Air Force men's gymnastics to a third-place finish at the Southwest Cup in Tempe, Ariz. Stromstad bettered his previous best to a 9.200 en route to a winning mark on the event, while remaining the only Falcon to clear a 9.000 on the event.

With consideration to the NCAA, Air Force's score of 194.225 finished second to meet winner Illinois-Chicago, who tallied a total of 207.825. The club teams of Arizona State (202.600) and Washington (191.725) also competed in the meet, but their scores do not count toward the Falcons' overall record.

Sophomore Edwin Berry (El Cajon, Calif.) led the team on the pommel horse with a 7.550, while classmate Kurt Antonio (Rio Rancho, N.M.) recorded the top mark on the still rings with a score of 8.250.

Antonio also led the team on the vault with an 8.900, while Kent Reichle (Cambridge, Minn.) and Eric Peele (Bethel, N.C.) tied for the top score on the parallel bars with matching 8.300 scores. Peele also notched the team's top spot on the high bar with an 8.300.

The Falcons return to action on Sunday, March 13, when they travel to Lincoln, Neb., for a 1 p.m. meeting with the Huskers.
