Falcons Wrap up Competition at Pacific Coast Classic
OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Air Force men's gymnastics team scored a team total of 177.000 at the Pacific Coast Classic on Saturday, Feb. 25, in Oakland, Calif. With two club teams and an international squad on the docket, Air Force only recorded a 198.725-177.000 loss to fellow varsity-level team Temple, despite its overall fifth-place score.
Japan's Waseda University won the Classic with a total score of 205.775. Temple finished second, while the club teams of Washington (181.275) and Arizona State (177.450) placed third and fourth, respectively. Air Force rounded out the field in fifth.
Sophomore Brian Boardman led the team on two events, posting the Falcons' best totals on the floor exercise (8.500) and pommel horse (7.150). Freshman Andrew Terrell had the highest score on the still rings, tallying a 7.100, while also leading the way on the vault at 8.600. Senior Brian Moore recorded a team-leading 7.450 on the parallel bars, while sophomore Tyler Sickles led the way on the high bar (8.250).
Air Force remains in California for a Thursday (March 2) event in Brentwood. The Falcons will compete in the annual Peter Vidmar Invitational, before traveling to Tempe, Ariz., for the Southwest Cup on Saturday (March 4).
