USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Junior Nick Gaudlip and freshman Tim Wang will represent the ninth-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team this weekend at the prestigious Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas. The two-day meet, which will determine the U.S. Men's National Team, begins with preliminary sessions on Thursday, Feb. 20.
The pair will compete in the first preliminary session, which is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. (PST) at the Riviera Hotel and Casino's Royale Pavilion.
The top 42 gymnasts, based on the Men's Program Committee's points ranking system, will advance to the Winter Cup finals on Saturday, Feb. 22, as well as the top three gymnasts on each apparatus. The all-around and event champions will be determined by a combined two-day score.
The 2014 Winter Cup Challenge marks the fifth straight year that Air Force has received multiple selections to the national event. In addition to Gaudlip and Wang, freshman Chris Stephenson also earned an invitation to the meet, but was forced to withdraw as he is recovering from injury.
