Tory Brown Places 15th on Vault at NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Highlighted by a 15th-place finish on the vault from sophomore Tory Brown, the Air Force men's gymnastics team concluded the 2011 season with five individual performances at the NCAA Championships individual event preliminaries on Friday, April 15, in Columbus, Ohio.
Brown posted the best finish of the night for the Falcons, tying for 15th in a field of 51 with a score of 15.850. Brown, who holds a share of the Academy record on that event at 15.950, posted the highest event finish of any service academy gymnast.
Classmate James Okamoto tied for 26th on the pommel horse with a score of 13.750, while senior Aaron Zaiser posted his second-highest score of the season (14.750) on the floor exercise to tie for 31st. Freshman Colton Wulf placed 35th on the high bar with a score of 13.850, while junior Devin Menefee rounded out the Falcons' competitors with a score of 13.400 on the still rings (49th).
Stanford, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation champion, won the 2011 national title with a score of 363.450, edging top-ranked Oklahoma (361.600) and Big Ten champion Illinois (360.150). California (358.700), Michigan (356.200) and Penn State (355.700) rounded out the team standings, while Michigan's Sam Mikulak won the all-around (90.750).
The men's gymnastics season officially wraps up tomorrow night (Saturday, April 15) with the individual event finals at St. John's Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
