NORMAN, Okla. - The Air Force men's gymnastics team wrapped up its first road meet of the season with a combined score of 412.200 at top-ranked Oklahoma on Saturday, Jan. 18, in Norman. The Falcons were paced by senior Nick Owen and freshman Tim Wang, who finished fourth on the pommel horse and high bar, respectively.
Owen scored a season-best 14.650 to place fourth on the pommel horse, while Wang picked up the same placement following a career-best 14.600 on the high bar. Wang, who also paced the Falcons on the parallel bars (13.950, seventh), earned a top-five finish on the pommel horse (14.450, fifth) en route to a third-place tally of 83.350 in the all-around.
Juniors Josh Ramos and Gared Chapman also earned placements within the top-half of the field, as they led the Falcons on the floor exercise and still rings, respectively. Ramos nearly matched his career high, as he scored a 14.650 to finish fifth on the floor, while Chapman scored a 14.450 to lead Air Force with a fifth-place finish on the rings.
Fellow junior Corbin Palmer rounded out the Falcons' event leaders, as he scored a season-high 14.100 to place seventh on the vault.
Air Force heads to Nebraska next Saturday (Jan. 25) for an afternoon meeting with the Cornhuskers.
