WHY USAFA?: "I came to the Air Force Academy to get a different college experience than a normal civilian college. I wanted to be able to look back and say I did something hard during my college years, something I could be proud of. Also, I wanted to become an officer in the Air Force. I also wanted to compete in NCAA gymnastics for the Academy." FRESHMAN (2011): Earned the team's Freshman of the Year award...competed on the floor exercise, parallel bars and high bar in every team competition...also competed on the still rings in 12 of 13 meets...scored a career-best 14.500 on the floor exercise in the regular season finale against Washington...that score is ranked 15th on the program's all-time record book...posted a career-best score of 14.200 on the parallel bars at the team finals of the USAG National Championships...helped Air Force set a new team mark of 57.700 at that meet...that score is ranked 13th in the program record book...won the high bar title against Army with a score of 13.700...helped Air Force sweep the event titles in the dual meet with the Black Knights...posted a career-high 14.400 on that event at Springfield...that score is the seventh-highest total in Academy history...scored a personal-best 13.900 on the still rings at Brockport...also vaulted during three meets...recorded a career-best 15.200 at the Rocky Mountain Open...that score is tied for 16th on the program's all-time list. HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Concord High School...competed at the club level for G&J Speedway Gymnastics...coached by Jie Ding...member of the 2010 regional team...three-time state all-around champion...also won numerous individual event titles. PERSONAL: Full name is Breeden McEachern Ritchie...goes by Mac...son of Jack and Jennifer Ritchie...has one older brother, Ben, and one younger brother, George...currently undecided on a major...hobbies include playing golf...favorite event is the parallel bars, because "I like doing it and I don't ever get bored of it"...member of Cadet Squadron 27. |
